\F1MR. J. DILLON
The Sequoias

Dear Mr. Dillon:

\JAfter one and a half years at Sequoias without a car port for
my car, I have become quite dissatisfied with the parking situation.

I know
that there are simply not enough car port spaces for every one and
that couples with more than one car have to suffer.
While this rule is not uniformly enforced, I do not want to request
preferential treatment as this would simply aggrevate the situation for others.

It is bad enough when I am fortunate enough to find a place on the peripheral
road near building 8. The exposure to dew and to
ice in the winter has aged my car's finish and the need to
scrape the wind shield and windows in the morning is a constant bother.

What is worse, is that I am frequently unable to find a parking place in the back
(at 5:30 PM when I get
home from work) and I have to go around
to the guest parking lot. Strangely enough, there is
always plenty of space in the back after 10 PM and at 8 AM
when I leave.

Either there are many visitors who park on the peripheral road, or
there are many residents who have
car ports but who leave their cars along the road until after dinner.
In the past, there have been occasional notices in The Sequoian to the effect
that the peripheral road parking slots are for residents without assigned car
ports. This does some good for a week or so but not for long.

I can suggest three ways to
ameliorated the situation, aside from the correct one which would be to build more
car ports. These are:

1) Assign specific places along the peripheral road to residents needing them and
mark these places as being reserved.
One position by buildings 4, 8 and 12
might posibly be reserved for temporary parking and marked as a 15 minute parking
space.

2) Issue car stickers to all those residents who need car ports
and mark the positions along the peripheral road as being reserved for
cars bearing these stickers.

3) Install a sign at the entrance to the peripheral road as a constant reminder
for visitors and residents alike, stating that all parking spaces along the
road are reserved for residents without assigned car ports.

The situation is sure to deteriorate with the completion of the Lodge and some
action should be taken soon.\.
